The meeting features talks and posters from educators and scientists from around the world.

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF AAVS

As the President of Asian Association of Veterinary Schools (AAVS), it is my great honor to welcome all participants to the 15th Asian Association of Veterinary Schools (AAVS) Congress jointly with the Workshop of Asian Society of Conservation Medicine (ASCM) under the theme of The Education of Veterinary Medicine in Universities of Asia and Its Approach to One Health during October 20-22, 2016 at the School of Veterinary Medicine, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan.

Harmonization of Veterinary Education among member institutions has been the focal point of mission and discussion of the AAVS steering committees for the past few years. The member institutions should concern on the improvement and standardization of veterinary education. Several key institutions are willing to share the updated information and their working strategy toward veterinary education, quality assurance and accreditation.

Veterinary profession is one of the key players in 'One Health' concept. Thus, we must prepare our graduates well to be capable of handling changes and cross-discipline working environment. Furthermore, quality of veterinary education and international standard of professional practices are also closely observed and expected by general public.

To achieve the goals of ‘One Health’, veterinary educational institutions must raise the awareness among its staffs and students on the importance of participatory, multidisciplinary and cross-cultural working skills since a healthy balance of animal-human-environment linkage obviously requires more significant players than veterinarian alone. Prominent speakers are invited to share their expertise and field experiences addressing various aspects of ‘One Health’ working approach.

Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Prof. Dr. Chou, Chin-Cheng, Dean and his Organizing Committee from National Taiwan University for all the arrangements and preparation for this congress. I wish this congress every success. Thank you.

Sincerely yours,

Prof. Dr. Apinun Suprasert, DVM, PhD

President of the Asian Association of Veterinary Schools
