During the International Forum in Korea on June 9, 2001, hosted by the Korean Society of Veterinary Science (president: Heungshik S. Lee) and College of Veterinary Medicine, Seoul National University, 15 delegates from 8 countries adopted the Joint Communique to improve the level of veterinary medicine in Asia and established the Dean's Meeting of the veterinary educational institutions in Asia.
 

The meeting was finally named as the Asian Association of Veterinary Schools (AAVS) at the Walker Hill, Seoul, Korea in the afternoon.
